OGAS ships have been manufactured in Germany for more than 116 years. The Founder, Otto Greiner, was the first to mechanically produce wooden toy ships. He used the first gas motor and, at the end of the 1920s, a steam engine to power the machines. From 1909 to 1914 the company OGAS also served the German Imperial court. The tradition has been preserved by the great grandson of Otto Greiner and OGAS toy ships are acclaimed worldwide.

Safety and Sustainability

OGAS Boats exclusively use certified woods from regional forestry.High-quality, careful choice and sustainability – these are the characteristics that can be attributed to the raw materials and all other materials needed for production. For OGAS toy ship models exclusively use local woods from regional PEFC and FSC certified suppliers’ assuring woods from sustainable regional forestry. All products and different components, e. g. superstructures are made of solid wood. OGAS do not use any plywood or glued laminated timber.

The colors and lacquers are produced on water-based, are solvent-free, water-resistant and environmentally friendly. Hence, the natural features of the raw material wood can be preserved as well as experienced by children. Durability and quality represent main attributes of the metal keels used for our sailing ships and boats. Therefore, they are refined in a specific process and thus steady protected against rust like the eyelets used for the ships.Well-chosen colors and lacquers guarantee the natural attributes of the wood.
